About the Author

Dr. Vikas Kumar Singh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of AIHC and Archaeology at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. His academic and research interest reflect a strong interdisciplinary orientation, with primary interests in route archaeology, ethno-archaeology, and prehistoric and protohistoric archaeology. He has research collaboration with University of Cambridge and Seoul National University and has completed TIGRESS, ICHR and IoE project in archaeology. His field experience extends to the archaeology of Harappan and Ganga Plain, where he has directed excavations at sites such as Sakas and Nindaur in Bihar, and Tokwa in Uttar Pradesh, contributing significantly to the understanding of settlement patterns and cultural developments in these regions.

Dr. Manisha Singh is serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of AIHC and Archaeology at DAV PG College, Varanasi (affiliated with Banaras Hindu University). Prior to joining academia, she worked as an Assistant Archaeologist with the Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi. Her research interests centre on Harappan archaeology and the archaeology of the Middle Ganga Plain. She is presently engaged in an ICHR project, titled “Archaeology of the Lower Son Valley,” that has led to the discovery of new rock shelter sites in the region.

Dr. Sudarshan Chakradhari serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at the Ambedkar School of Social Sciences, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. His specialisations encompass South Asian archaeology, protohistoric and early historic cultures, pottery analysis, archaeometallurgy and settlement archaeology. His ongoing major research project, financed by the ICHR, investi-gates the relationships and cultural heritage between the Indus – Saraswati Civilisation and the Ganga Plain.
